Instant-view® Lateral Flow Test
Lateral flow assays have provided a very useful tool for three decades. Use of the technology is widespread and has proven an inexpensive way to screen, qualitatively and semi-quantitatively, in point-of-care environments. Lateral flow tests are used for medical diagnostics and detect the presence or absence of a target analyte in a sample matrix without the need for additional specialized and expensive medical equipment. The tests are utilized either for at-home-testing, point-of-care testing, or in clinical laboratories, depending on the tests regulatory clearances. Throughout over 20-year history, ALFA has fine-tuned our manufacturing capabilities to a level that ensures the highest quality of lateral flow test output. All products are produced in the USA. ALFA's Instant-view® lateral flow tests stand for quality our customers have come to rely on and trust.Catalog Number | Description | Kit Size/Content |

What is EDDP?
EDDP is a metabolite of methadone, which means that it is formed when the drug is broken down in the body. It is made in the liver. When methadone is broken down, some of it is turned into EDDP, and the rest is excreted in the urine. The part that is excreted depends on the pH, the dose, and the person’s metabolism. Excretion of EDDP into the urine is not dependent on those factors, so the presence of EDDP can be useful.
What is methadone?
Methadone is a synthetic narcotic that is usually used to help opioid abusers end their addiction and stop using. It was originally made during a morphine shortage in the 1940s.
How long is EDDP detected in the body?
EDDP is detected in the urine around 4-6 hours after use and is no longer detected after 2 to 3 days after use.
How do you interpret Methadone and EDDP results?
Methadone Result | EDDP Result | Interpretation |
Positive | Negative | May indicate that the person has put the methadone directly into the sample cup. This is a way to adulterate the sample.
May also indicate that methadone was consumed several days ago, after EDDP would be detected. |
egative | Positive | EDDP is proof of Methadone ingestion |
Positive | Positive | May indicate consumption of methadone. |
